Oshibana at Pädaste Manor
Friday to Sunday
To press a flower is to honour its form without altering its truth.
This June weekend, we invite you to step into the delicate world of Oshibana — the ancient Japanese art of pressed flowers — through a bespoke three-day experience guided by artist Kai Tomasberg, whose works speak to the quiet power of nature & the subtle discipline of observation.
Historically part of the samurai’s mental training, Oshibana was once practiced to cultivate deep focus, patience, & awareness. Today, it offers a kindred stillness — a practice of mindfulness & elegance for those seeking beauty that speaks softly but resonates deeply.
Friday, June 13 | Exhibition Opening „Oshibana at Pädaste“
An invitation to observe closely.
We begin with the unveiling of Kai’s Framed Flower Mosaics — original works composed of handpicked Baltic flora, presented in a private exhibition at Pädaste Manor. Each piece is a meditation in itself — composed with reverence, crafted without chemicals, and framed to preserve the subtle textures and hues of the living plant world.
Select works will be available for purchase. Collectors may also inquire about commissioning bespoke pieces featuring only species native to Muhu Island.
Saturday, June 14 | Foraging Into the Wild Stillness
An invitation to gather with intention.
On the second day, guests join Kai for a gentle guided foraging walk through the meadows, coastal paths, and wooded areas surrounding Pädaste. This is not hurried collecting — it is a sensory experience, one of presence and appreciation. Learn how to identify, gather, and handle plants with care and respect, attuning yourself to the quiet pace of nature.
Sunday, June 15 | Meditative Oshibana Workshop
An invitation to create from stillness.
The final day is spent immersed in the Oshibana workshop, an intimate, hands-on session designed to soothe the senses and still the mind. All tools and materials are provided, and no previous artistic experience is needed. The guided process is peaceful, personal, and unexpectedly transformative.
Each guest will complete at least one original keepsake of pressed flowers to take home — a memory pressed into form.
Three-Day Oshibana Art Retreat – €149 per person
Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of this unique art form: how to press and preserve plants, and how to create meaningful botanical compositions. The exhibition opening will take place regardless, but we reserve the right to cancel the retreat up to one week in advance if fewer than four participants are registered.
Enhance your creative weekend with exclusive benefits – a special offer of 199 € per night on accommodation.
