Works for harp and violin

Lauded for its “nearly unbearable brilliance” (Peter Dobrin, The Philadelphia Inquirer), the music of Riho Esko Maimets regularly receives performances around the world.
He has chosen three of his recent chamber works to be performed at the concert-dinner. These works, both whimsical and lyrically austere, but always radiant, will be performed by harpist Liis Viira and violinist Katariina Maria Kits.

Liis Viira is not only a multitalented musician but also an experimental animation filmmaker. Serving the role of composer, harpist and improviser, her works have garnered recognition for their attention to form and their propensity to translate imagery into music. She is a member of the celebrated chamber ensemble Una Corda, which is comprised of the Estonian zither, harp and harpsichord. She is also active as a freelance musician, performing with various orchestras and ensembles.
Katariina Maria Kits
Violinist Katariina Maria Kits (b. 1995, Tallinn) is perhaps best known for having won Estonia’s version of Classical idol, “Klassikatähed”. A sought after musician, she has collaborated with composers such as Arvo Pärt and René Eespere, and performed as a soloist over 40 times. She currently studies at the Trossingen University of Music in Germany under Marina Chiche.
