Juu Jääb, in its XXI edition, took off in Pädaste Manor, shortly after the estate opened its doors; bringing together past and future of music.

 

 

About Jolanta Gulbe Pashkevich

 

Jolanta is maybe one of the most extravagant singers of Latvian professional jazz, with a rich and powerful voice. The best known Bossa Nova and Fado singer in the Nordics, Jolanta performs this special concert-dinner as part of XXI Juu Jääb Muhu Future Music Festival.

 

Fado songs are known to be highly emotional, they tell about the longing for the unreachable. The genre can be traced to 1820s in Lisbon, Portugal.

 

“Fado is my way of meditating. It’s my soul journey into people’s fate through music. In this performance, I’ve chosen a range of historic songs, contemporary Fado and several other Portuguese songs with a slightly different thematic shade. A stories of fun, everyday life, situations full with self-irony and deep life revelations of a soul in pain…”
